Livelihood and Inclusive microfinance Program - kabale

Caritas Uganda with funding from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation is implementing a three- year project on “Livelihood and Inclusive microfinance” through Caritas Kasese and Caritas Kabale in the dioceses of Kasese and Kabale respectively. The project's goal is to improve food, nutrition, and income security for 1800 households and 14 congregations of the catholic sisters of the Association of the Religious in Uganda (ARU) in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 2. The project also aims at increasing equal opportunity between men and women and the participation of women and girls in decision-making in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals 5.

Program Outcomes

1. Strengthening the household livelihood strategy and self-reliance of targeted households through the creation of the VSLA groups and provision of Income-Generating Activities. 2. Providing accessible, and cost effective financial services through microfinance services. 3. Increasing sustainable management/ Leadership capacities of the 14 congregations of the catholic sisters in Kabale and Kasese Dioceses by November 2025. Advocating for social justice and human rights through the catholic sisters of ARU at the Diocesan level.
